Thanks to philanthropist, screenwriter and independent film maker Aron Thompson, the Seattle Art Museum is currently showing The KIng of Cool: The Movies of Steve McQueen . Which means January through March they will be featuring 10 Steve McQueen movies. Lucky me, because I'm not only a Steve McQueen fan, I'm friends with one of the coolest cats in town, the series sponsor, Mr.Thompson himself. The Subterfuge Set, including my besties Michelle Quisenberry (who happens to be a SIFF board member) and Korene Hubacka have a standing invitation for cocktails at SAM before and after the screenings. If that's not cool enough, we get to call ourselves "friends of Aron Thompson" which gets us on the list and to the front of the line. Don't ask me how things like this happen, but it has something to do with being in the right place at the right time. I think more honestly, it has something to do with Michelle and her front of the line/on the list karma points. Come to think about it, I haven't had to wait in line once since I started hanging out with her (there was that time at the Jimmy Choo event in San Fransisco for H&M but that's a whole other story).

Aron Thompson on the set of his film SHUFFLE
This last Thursday night was the screening of the 1966 western "Nevada Smith". It just so happened that my girlfriends had other plans, so my urban cowboy husband gallantly jumped to my rescue and accompanied me to the show. It was a perfect scenerio- he wore cowboy boots, I wore my over the knee fringe moccasins. We enjoyed a nice dinner at TASTE where I was happy to find that they have oysters on the menu and some pretty good gnocchi for the cowboy. After greeting Aron Thompson and his guest for the evening, his father Conrad, we proceeded to enjoy one of the best westerns. Yee Haw.
