Providence O’Christmas Trees has been raising funds for Providence Senior and Community Services for 25 years. Many of those they serve are at the end of their lives, whether it comes from age and a life lived or because the person has a life limiting illness. Often, these same people, at the end of their life, find themselves disenfranchised and in need. Providence embraces its responsibility to provide for the needs of the communities they serve. Last year, Providence Senior and Community Services provided more than $5 million in free and discounted care as part of Providence Health & Services' total community benefit of more than $130 million.

On Tuesday night, I walked into the Warren Knapp Gallery to attend the Providence O'Christmas Trees  fund raiser. The stylish Duell Fisher, owner of www.TeamPhotogenic.com, was there with his photographers and enthusiasm for the cause expressing his commitment and explaining that O'Christmas Trees is dear to him because it is one of the few organizations raising money for seniors in our community. Only one percent of money that is raised in Seattle goes to seniors, so when Duell's mother was at the end of her days at Providence and they were able to extend her life by several more months than expected, he was grateful, Duell is also a board memeber of Providence O'Christmas Trees.

The Warren Knapp Give and Get program is headed by Scott Walden, who organizes events for Warren Knapp to raise money in the community through sales of art work, generously donating 35 percent of all sales to Providence O'Christmas Trees. The intimate gallery hosted 60 art enthusiasts, selling a total of ten pieces of art, raising $1,800 for the cause. Not-for-profit organizations interested in being involved with the Give and Get program can contact Scott Walden,  swalden2400@hotmail.com

The Warren Knapp Gallery is located on the corner of Melrose and Pike, which is an active corner of people and cool shops, coffee houses, and furniture stores. On a summer evening in Seattle, walking through the neighborhood to end up at a party at the Warren Knapp Gallery makes for a nice stroll. The event was catered by Word of Mouth Catering . Guests appreciated the watermelon on a stick served with salt-refreshing on a hot evening. Some of the fabulous people in attendance were: Providence O'Christmas Trees Executive Director Patricia Szabo; Providence O'Christmas Trees board member, Philip Sternola of Sternola- Brown Interiors; as well as Bravo! Cub members Reham Abdledshahid and  Marianna Veress; Seattle socialite Jiawen Shi, who was the best dressed girl in the room; and a true Texas Lady- who gives the best Texas accent I've heard in long time, Dallas style-  Holly Gerri, who now makes Seattle her home with her husband Kevin Grengo; the charming founder of WYNEClub, Chris Bierrum, and Sustainable Style Foundation's founder and stylist Rebecca Luke.
