An opulent look from the Amadeus Masquerade Parade by A Masquerade Costume
What do a gauntlet, a dish and a monkey band leader have in common? Well, nothing except that they are subjects featured prominently in works housed at the Seattle Art Museum. They were also among the works of art designers used as inspiration for the All For Fall Designers Fashion Show at Pacific Place this past Saturday.
The show, directed by Eduardo Khawam and co-hosted by Neveen Heaton, started with the Amadeus Masquerade Parade- a pleasant reminder that Halloween costumes need not be lingerie to be beautiful and provocative. True costume enthusiasts would get their fix from the second half of the show.
If you frequent the
Seattle Art Museum, you would probably feel familiar with the competing designs that paraded down the makeshift runway. Robert Henri, Do-Ho Suh,
Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo and Albert Bierstadt were some of the artists referenced, but it was a Lichtenstein that won the competition judged by such notables as Seattle Art Museum’s Sandra Jackson-Dumont, costume designers Kim Tepe of the Seattle Opera and Victoria McFall of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Blayne Walsh, a Project Runway fifth season finalist.
Designer Anna Dicklhuber won with her representation of Red Painting by Roy Lichtenstein. Jason B. Arrington came in as first runner up with his Joan of Arc design modeled by Kate Neschke.

Attendees included Patricia Szabo, Executive Director of Providence O'Christmas Trees and Dr Alex Szabo, a retired college professor and award winning photographer for publications such as Sports Illustrated and Life magazine. Several of the Subterfuge Set were also in attendance- home stylist Eduardo Mendoza, socialite Jiawen Shi, Volterra restaurant owner Michelle Quisenberry, and Subterfuge editor, Sarah Caples.
