The motivation regarding the SubterfugeSeattle.com endeavor is to showcase the stellar side of a culturally evolving town. Seattle is filled with people who are more than Suburbanites wearing lame clothes. We are certainly more than a 90s hangover. Really. There is an adventurous character, intellect, artistry and ambition in the regular population. Seattle is made of high I.Q., socially conscious, kind people with incredible depth. We are, perhaps, too self deprecating, too focused on the sadness of the rain and too lonely- but only because we've been having an identity crisis since the death of Kurt Cobain and most of us don't identify with the culture currently being sold in the media. Perhaps too many of us don't read our experience in our magazines or hear our conversation on the radio- but that's okay. New media is on its way with new people, new stories. Some will blow your mind and some will be a sigh of relief.

Although subterfuge may be committed along the way, it's in the interest of delivering a new spin on the Seattle social scene. Worthwhile tastes tend toward extremes- the absolute formality of the military or classical disciplines such as Ballet and Catholic school; these tastes when juxtaposed by unconventional interests in slam poetry, twitter and alternative forms of education... the kinds of subject matter one finds in old scripture and literature as well as the kind found all over new media as its moment by moment evolution happens before our eyes at lightning speed. Whatever this transmutation may be, artistic or otherwise, we have disdain- even contempt, for the boring, the in-between, the so-so. The sentiment will always be to push for refreshingly interesting and thoughtful content.

Here, you will not be treated like a target market. You will be given credit for the intellect and edge that Seattleites are known for. It will be assumed that you are not in need of new things lacking in gravitas, that you can handle diversity, that you are capable of appreciating the traditional and unconventional together in one entity. Reflective people require life be served up through contrasts. In Subterfuge you will find a conversation you can participate in- a Seattle community that takes away your annoyance with the rain and pretense that doesn't allow you to say what you really think. There is a contingency of intelligent, philanthropic, reflective and stylish people who call Seattle home. They are the Subterfuge Set.
